Genelia D'Souza

Genelia D'Souza

Genelia D'Souza

Genelia D'Souza (born 5 August 1987 in Mumbai, India) is an Indian actress. She has acted in Telugu and Hindi films and has also appeared in Tamil and Kannada language films.

Biography

Although D'Souza has said she was born in Mumbai[1], there is some controversy with other sources saying she was born in England, UK.[2]

D'Souza was born to Jeanette D'Souza, formerly secretary to Managing Director with a pharma MNC, and Neil D'Souza, a senior official with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).[3] Her family hails from the Mangalorean Catholic community, a prominent Christian community in Bombay.[1][4] Her pet name is Geenu.[5] D'Souza studied at the Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra and later joined St. Andrews College (Bandra) to pursue her Bachelor's Degree of Management Studies.[2]

She was also a State level athlete and a National level Football player.

D'Souza made her debut in Bollywood in 2003. Her first Hindi film was Tujhe Meri Kasam opposite Ritesh Deshmukh.[3] She left Bollywood for a while to concentrate on South Indian films. She first hit the lime-light with a Parker Pen commercial with Amitabh Bachchan[8] and further did a Fair and Lovely 2003 Cricket World Cup ad with Krishnamachari Srikkanth. She was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai.[9] The Tamil director, Shankar, was very much impressed with her performance in both the ads and cast her in a leading role in his Tamil film Boys in 2003 which was a huge success.

She made her Telugu debut with Satyam and went on to act in several films which raised her profile in south India. She acted in several successful telugu films like Happy, Samba and Sye. She followed it up with a pairing with actor Venkatesh in Subhash Chandra Bose which met with disappointment at the box-office.

Her second Hindi movie was Masti and was also opposite Ritesh. This film was a moderate success.

She then played the role of Haasini in the Telugu film, Bommarillu, which also starred Siddharth Narayan in the lead. This movie was one of the biggest hits in her career and earned her critical acclaim and wide recognition. She won the Filmfare Award as the Best Actress for her performance, besides other awards. Her character of Haasini earned rave reviewes and this made her the favourite choice for that role in the remakes of Bommarillu in other languages. It was remade in Tamil as Santhosh Subramaniam in which Genelia was cast as heroine again. The film also turned out to be a rather successful as its predecessor. Her debut film in Kannada Satya In Love grossed 4 crores in its opening week thus setting a new record in the Kannada film industry.

She once again appeared in Bollywood in Mere Baap Pehle Aap alongside Akshaye Khanna, which was moderately successful. Her final breakthrough in Bollywood was through the blockbuster, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, where she is the heroine in the role of Aditi Mahant aka "Meow". Her role has been widely admired for her sweetness and freshness, and new style of acting. The movie has debutant Imran Khan, Aamir Khan's nephew, as the hero. The movie released on July 4, 2008 and was a success across India and overseas.[10] Her career in south india also continues with she reigning as a successful star in Telugu film industry. Her latest Telugu film Ready in which she was paired opposite Ram was a super hit. Her next film It's My Life, which is again a remake of Bomarillu with Harman Baweja is to be released in 2009. She will also act in David Dhawan's next film which is called Hook Ya Crook opposite John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade for the first time which is a cricket film, the film will be released in 2009. She also has the other film on her hand which is to released by mid of 2009 which is titled Life Partner with Fardeen Khan. She is now the brand ambassador of the new Fanta replacing Rani Mukherjee. She is also now the brand ambassador of chocolate Perk replacing Preity Zinta.

I hope you feel deep in your heart
As your birthdays come and go
How truly very much you mean to me
My love for you, lives by the truth

I will be your birthday's placid love
We shall dance, like a gorgeous dove
We shall watch the stars above
We shall fit like a hand and glove

A Birthday wish for my special love
A gorgeous princess you always lenitive
Best friends and lovers all in one
Graceful, like a rose in full bloom

Every word expressed show what I feel
On this birthday, I’ll hold you tight
Written from the depths of my heart
My love for you, shall never pause

ThE KiNd Of GirL...

I am a girl as simple as others see
Who loves as much as she can be
But who has a smile as unique as she
Whose ultimate goal; is to make you happy

Known for her beauty and her qualities
Trust her & love her with your ability
So do not doubt her even a single bit
She belongs to you; please do beleive it.

A girl who finds her joy within your arms
She will protect you from every harm
She will apologize when does any wrong
Will die at your feet no matter how long

She wants to be called "that's my girl"
Will be the one who completes your world
Never gives you a chance to feel lonely
Always assures you and say "there's me"

FruStrAtiOn...

When I'm gripped by emotions
My tears roll down for a while
When I'm immersed in emotions
I fake all with a smile

I cannot like a thing
Nor could i get by dealing
When liking becomes a neccessity
I can only hide my feelings

I never win any game of love
I only lose my near and dear
And when it comes to others
I sacrifice the only love i fear

As long as i'm still alive
My happiness is spread everywhere
But when i'm about to die
I see tears in those eyes who care

FeAr Of LoSiNg MySeLf....

Craving for you when i’m in pain
Have you been there? I tried in vain
My ribs displaced shrinking my heart
This mental torture has been from start

Troubles, my best friend sticking to me
Breathe in oxygen but I don’t feel free
Striving for happiness in eternity
That can happen if you are with me

Though home sweet home embraced me
Sorrows within me knows no melody
In this madding crowd I feel alone
Waiting hopelessly for you royally

Oh no! This suffocation grew thick
Wanting to puke it makes me sick
If this continues, I’ll reach heaven soon
Watching you from above as a full moon

Come back....

Where have u gone ?
My soul is torn
Leaving me on the lurch
My heart is worn.

Have u concluded?
Ur love for me is dead
Have u decided?
It was hanging on a thread

Oh please come back
Take me wid u
Can’t bear this stab
My world is blue

Should I die crying?
Not knowing how u feel
Should I die pining?
Not knowing what is real!

Will the moon shine for me?

Each morning after its long night...
I'm always awaken by a fright...
Will the sun above smile at me?
or the rainbow blindfold me?

Hitting the age of mid thirties...
I still love running around trees.
But I know no joys without tears
Nor has my heart escaped from fears...

Why am i haunted by seperation?
And put me in eternal depression?
Won't roses grow along my path?
Or just thorns to tear me apart?

But not far from the madding crowd,
A voice from somewhere assuring me
That even if the sun refuses to smile,
The moon will do that for free.

Puppet in God's hand...

Why do i plunge into this temptation?
When I get only the worse on earth
Why do Im tortured by this nightmare?
Thinking the happy dream’s my worth!

Am I a curse to this world?
Bombarded by the sorrows
Dint life teach me enuff?
Or the lessons I learned r slow?

Being once the victim to the best
Serving even my skin to kid n kin
Smiling to every odds
While dying new deaths within

Not born an orphan in this birth
Considering the dear ones beside
Wanting to abscond somewhere

Naseeb

God has created me
To be humiliated
By the one I loved
For the way im treated

Every now & then
I’m being killed
Y not shoot me once
U will be fulfilled

Alone in this world
No where to go
Being so helpless
God had chosen me so

Just like a beggar
Raising arms for help
Only to get ignored
Hated by my ownself!

If I CouLd NamE thIs BonD...

If i could name my bond
it would be an endless song
with a fabulous tune that rhymes
Lost in those pretty precious times

The bond that no one can guess
That relates you in loneliness
Once upon a time a boy & a girl
who fell in love within their nests

This bond was already destined
To this sad couple unsinned
They know nothing but true romance
Holding them by a thread so thin

If who could name this bond
kindly name also this song
For every note that plays along
will be the spirit of this bond

KeeP The FaiTh...

O my darling do not be sad
Of the special times you had
Yesterday's joy in your life
Today it may turn out bad

No matter what happened has happened
The Lord was there through out
To guide you wherever you go
And never leave you without

The plan for you He destined
You still have to travel far
But His ultimate target for you
Has brought successful where you are

The gloomy days of your past
Will hold your future so tight
The care He places each day
The unseen peace for you so bright

Quit playing games with my heart...

My heart worships you deeply
While my eyes says you betray me
My lonely soul cries out to you
What I see can never be

Killing me you never stop
Whipping me with the tear drop
Corrupting my feelings is your game
Becoz all you want is the fame

This though I know from the start
Yet I refused to listen my heart
Since you pierced with cupid’s arrow
Where my mind leads, I follow!

I wish to reverse my time
To get stronger when I meet you
To roll days I spent behind
And dodge away the arrows u threw

NothIng WitHouT LoVe....

It seems to be wrong
But it looks so right
When sorrow lurches in
I just don't want to fight

When i give up to live
Even the almighty din't care
Never grow up to my age
With no pleasure could spare

Knowing all these ill-fate
You cried along with me
You pleaded me to beleive
And i opened my eyes to see

When i think life is hopeless
With no pity from above
There you came my way
Nothing can beat your love

TrUsT u MoRe ThAn MySeLf...

When hurts reside in me
I have no way to escape
Trying to hide from this world
My heart bleeding, losing its shape

Trust you more than myself
Is what embedded in me
Even if killed by you one day
Never will it change, if left free

Slitting my heart to prove
The love preserved for you
Me and my God knows
No matter how far you go

Detesting me and my ownself
But never gave up my trust
Building my hope that one day
Believed by you, it’s a must!

I bEleiVe In YoU...

I smile when i hear you
Though it is false & not true
I hide by my small giggles
But inside, i'm always blue

I never know where i stand
I feel i do not deserve a glance
Everything comes first for you
Only at last you give me a chance

Is it written on my forehead
That i'm a cast-away
Why dint I stop my efforts
But hope to see my hey-day

The words you uttered to me
Are promises engraved deeply
If i could live my only dream
Because the faith i have is real
